Hayward perflex filter issue!?

Got a hayward perflex filter installed last summer & it worked just fine. this summer however it constantly stays on a 20 psi. I bump it & backwash it but that only helps for a about an hour or two its flow return back to the pool is very weak. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?
