How can a guy get to know a girl without sounding too inquisitive with a lot of questions? ?

I have my eye on a girl who goes to the same college as me, but I don't know much about her except her name and her age and basic info like what kind of cles she has taken. I would like to ask her out, but I also would like to get to know her more too. How can I ask her what kind of things she likes etc and become better friends with her without sounding too interested/inquisitive/asking too many questions?
